Equipping for Ministry

Directed Study Program Courses

The Directed Study Program consists of online courses developed and taught from a specifically Brethren in Christ perspective. Designed to shape and support pastors and lay leaders in the biblical convictions that are at the heart of our life and work as a Church, the Directed Study Program is also helpful for those sensing a call to vocational ministry.

The courses, designed to be flexible, relational, practical, and affordable, cover a full range of topics related to Christian faith, and leadership, and as well as ministry. They are developed by  academically and experientially qualified syllabi writers and faculty and approved by the Equipping for Ministry Team, a panel of pastors and college and seminary professors appointed by the Commission on Ministry and Doctrine.

Those seeking to meet the educational requirements for ordination need to successfully complete ten required courses along with two elective courses of their choice. Lay persons or others taking courses for their own enrichment may choose any courses. There are also Ministry Specific Courses for those involved in or interested in a particular ministry within the local congregation.
