The 120th General Conference (19th Biennial) was held June 27 to 30, 2008, at the Sheraton Parkway in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The theme selected for our 2008 gathering, “Jesus worshipped in the nations,” is especially apt as we took General Conference to the Toronto area, one of North America’s most culturally diverse metropolitan regions. In addition to drawing upon the resources of our own BIC World Missions team, conference planners capitalized on the rich array of ethnic congregations in and around Toronto in order to bring a global perspective to worship services, children’s and youth programming, and break out sessions.

Conference Speakers/Presentations
» Mirta Collaca
Co-pastor, Vida Abundante (BIC) Church, Miami, FL
Mirta Colloca is a dynamic, gifted preacher whose passion for evangelism makes her a sought-after speaker and workshop leader within the United States and across Latin America. She also hosts a daily radio program that draws people to the Gospel message through discussions of everyday topics such as family, personal relationships, and emotional health. Reflecting on the warm welcome she and her husband, Roberto, have received within the BIC Church, Mirta states: “Coming as we do from a Spanish-speaking church, we usually feel like a minority, but we do not feel that way in the Brethren in Christ. I think the fact that I was asked to preach at General Conference speaks clearly to that. The Brethren in Christ is an open-minded church when it comes to accepting and respecting other groups. We are a beautiful organization."
