Brethren in Christ Foundation appoints director of advancement
GRANTHAM, Pa. (June 11, 2010)—Elvin Peifer, chief executive officer of the Brethren in Christ Foundation (Grantham, Pa.), has announced the appointment of John H. Burns, of Gap, Pa., to the position of director of advancement.
“We are pleased that John has joined the Foundation staff,” says Peifer. “We anticipate the many gifts and skills he will bring to the work of cultivating financial support for the mission and ministries of the Brethren in Christ Church.”
A member of the Summit View BIC Church (New Holland, Pa.), Burns comes to the BIC Foundation with more than 20 years of experience in the manufacturing field. In his role, Burns will raise funds in support of BIC ministries and programs, including gifts for current purposes and planned gifts, and also encourage participation in the Brotherhood Loan Fund.
A significant aspect of the director’s position is to recruit and oversee a network of volunteer BIC ambassadors. The ambassadors commit to annually representing the BIC Foundation and Cooperative Ministries, the shared ministry fund of the BIC Church, in three or four churches within their Regional Conferences.
The advancement position is new for the Foundation and integrates an existing director of planned giving position with an expanded fundraising portfolio. Burns’ work officially began on June 14.
