Global Compassion Fund Update
Mechanicsburg, Pa. (September 14, 2015)—Many in our world experience great difficulty, tragedy, and loss. Our Global Compassion Fund exists to provide resources for our brothers and sisters in times of great need. The fund is designed to hold sufficient cash to respond quickly when needs arise and requests for help are received. At the beginning of September around $96,500 was being held in the fund. In recent weeks, we have approved funding to meet a number of specific requests (totaling up to $82,500).
The Brethren in Christ Church in Nepal continues to deal with terrible destruction and loss following the earthquakes in recent months. Many buildings, including one of the SPICE hostels, were heavily damaged. Close by, the Church in Bihar is still working to regroup after a strong cyclone in April damaged homes, crops, and infrastructure.
In effort to assist our brothers and sisters in Nepal and Bihar, requests for up to $55,000* for Nepal, and up to $20,000 for Bihar have been approved from the Global Compassion Fund.
The Brethren in Christ Church in Honduras also recently requested assistance to provide a clean water source for a community that has been without one for some time. The Church in Honduras plans to work with the community, including the local mayor, to provide additional funding for the project. A matching disbursement of $7,500 was approved from the Global Compassion Fund.
As we desire to be equipped for ongoing humanitarian needs around the world, donations to the Global Compassion Fund are always welcome. Learn more and donate now »
