Quizzers primed for denominational finals


GRANTHAM, Pa. (June 1, 2009)—Excitement is building for this year's denominational Bible quizzing finals, to be held June 26-28 at Fairview Avenue Brethren in Christ Church (Waynesboro, Pa.).

Eight teams from across North America will compete to clinch the title of top quiz team: Grantham A of Grantham (Pa.) BIC and Carlisle of Carlisle (Pa.) BIC, representing the Susquehanna Conference; Elizabethtown of Elizabethtown (Pa.) BIC, Harrisburg of Harrisburg (Pa.) BIC, and Cross Roads of Cross Roads BIC of Mount Joy (Pa.), representing the Atlantic Conference; Nappanee of Nappanee (Ind.) BIC and New Vision of New Vision BIC (Pewaukee, Wis.), representing the Great Lakes Conference; and Fairview Ave. of Fairview Ave. BIC (Waynesboro, Pa.), representing the Allegheny Conference.

Quizzers from across the denomination spent the year studying the Gospel of Luke.

"I anticipate a very competitive finals,” says John Weaver, denominational quiz director and pastor of Pleasant Hill (Ohio) BIC Church. “This has been a year where a number of teams have done very well [during the regular season].”

Friends, family, and anyone interested in exciting competition are encouraged to attend the finals. Quizzing will occur from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on June 26; 9:00 a.m. to noon on June 27; and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on June 28.
