Champs successfully defend title at 2009 Bible quizzing finals

GRANTHAM, Pa. (June 29, 2009)—The Nappanee Bible quizzing team successfully defended its championship title at the 2009 denominational Bible quizzing finals, held June 26-28 at Fairview Avenue Brethren in Christ Church (Waynesboro, Pa.).

Competing against seven other teams from across the denomination, Nappanee (of Nappanee [Ind.] BIC Church) secured its second consecutive championship, and its sixth overall. At the 2008 denominational finals, held July 27-29 in Toronto, Nappanee bested second-place Fairview Ave in a two-match contest to clinch the title.

This year Cross Roads of Cross Roads BIC (Mount Joy, Pa.) finished in second place, and Elizabethtown of Elizabethtown (Pa.) BIC captured third. Filling out the rest of the bracket were Harrisburg of Harrisburg (Pa.) BIC (4th), Fairview Ave. of Fairview Ave. BIC (Waynesboro, Pa.) (5th), New Vision of New Vision BIC (Pewaukee, Wis.) (6th), Grantham of Grantham (Pa.) BIC (7th), and Carlisle of Carlisle (Pa.) BIC (8th).

Nappanee team captain Nathan Rosentrater was awarded the Quizzer’s Choice Award, a recognition conferred by fellow quizzers and coaches upon the individual that best exemplifies Christian character, excellence in quizzing, and leadership skill.
