A Christmas Special for Messiah College Fall All-Stars

A CBS television special highlighting the NCCA Divisions II and III fall sports championships will highlight the stellar performance of three Messiah College teams: men’s and women’s soccer and women’s field hockey. Along with game highlights, the television cameras and crews followed Messiah’s teams throughout the Final Four weekends. The program will air on Christmas Day at 4:00 p.m. (EST).

For the first time in NCAA history, national championships in men’s and women’s soccer went to teams from the same school – and that college was Messiah. And although the college’s field hockey team missed the big prize by one goal, even in their disappointment, the women showed themselves to be true champions.

The winning teams benefited from the good play of four Brethren in Christ athletes: Annie Futato (women’s soccer) from the Carlisle (PA) BIC Church; Nick Kipe (men’s soccer) from the Five Forks BIC Church ( Waynesboro, PA); Lisa Strausbaugh (field hockey) and Megan Strausbaugh (women’s soccer) from the Mechanicsburg (PA) BIC Church.

Messiah College, Grantham, PA, was founded by BIC leaders in 1909 and continues to enjoy a covenant relationship with the BIC Church.
